College is a waste of time.

Paragraph #3- This paragraph has the thesis statement of the article. The writer says that college is a waste of time as it fails to empower us with the skills necessary to become productive members of today's economy.

Paragraph #4 and #6- These paragraphs give all the explanation and examples. The writer says that college is expensive. According to the College board policy center, the tuition is about 3.6 times
higher than it was 30 years ago. The writer also writes about the student loan debt.

Paragraph #8 and 9- These paragraphs consist of the refutation to opposing statements. He says that a major function of college is to signal to potential employers. He also says that some people want a formal education. This is how he opposes his point of view.

Paragraph #10- This is the conclusion of the article. He concludes by saying that, the people who take education outside and beyond the classroom understand how actions build a better world.

  2. I think he did a good job in pointing out the four pillars but we got different thesis. I think what he have as his thesis is evidence and support the thesis that's found in paragraph one.

Review: Research Proposals

I felt that most of the presenters knew what they were supposed to do. Almost all of them had statistics and facts related to their topic. Some of the topics were not as researchable as required, but the effort was seen. I noticed that most of the students hadn't used the MLA format for the citations.  I think that I had used all the fixtures and facts required for my argument. The only thing I feel was missing in my presentation was the MLA citation. I could do a better research on my focal points and use more facts and incidents to put my argument in a good position.
